Technologies, city, business: experiences and challenges for Port as ecosystem of innovation

Introduction

The Port sector is currently undergoing fundamental changes, both in terms of innovation and governance.
The ICT technologies are part of these changes, in order to get Ports smart, connected and digital.
From one side, the global trade requires to be able to speed-up the innovation race. From the other side the main challenge for Ports is to deploy field components and applications compatible with the port community expectations.
These solutions have to be standard and open, to enable the integration and the connection through complex logistics chains.

Which technologies are able to transform Ports?  What is the time frame? How anticipate or incorporate the technological vision within the Ports development plans? Which public and private subjects are the drivers of Port innovation? Which is the appropriated governance model to re-design the logistics and port processes? Which are the strategic and technological choices to boost the interoperability among different transport nodes of the supply chain? Why these nodes are not fully digitalised and connected yet? Which are the value added services for passengers and cargo within a fully integrated vision? How the port monitoring can increase the security level, the port-city integration and the environmental sustainability?

These issues are the focus of the Naples Shipping Week 2018 edition.
The North Tyrrhenian Sea Ports System Authority promotes the discussion among technology experts, public actors and private companies to identify priorities, tools and methods for the implementation of Ports Digital Agendas.
